PROPAIN Talent Factory 2021 team camp in Todtnau

After the 2020 season was more or less a “no season” with only one official race for the kids, everyone was more than ready and super motivated to finally start the 2021 season. Unfortunately, COVID also had a firm grip on the first half of the year in 2021 and so race dates had to be postponed or cancelled again and we were also forced to postpone our team camps.

At the beginning of June, the situation finally eased and the restrictions were relaxed. On this basis, we were able to plan and hold the long-awaited first team camp, which consisted of a visit to the new PROPAIN headquarters and a training camp in the Todtnau bikepark. Unfortunately, our English team rider Jordi Hart was not able to take part in the team camp due to the travel restrictions from UK.

To kick off the team camp, the team riders David Adamek, Diego Segattini as well as coach Marcus Klausmann and team manager David Mörs met in Vogt at the new PROPAIN headquarters. The first thing on the agenda was a tour through the new headquarter. The kids got an insight into the different stages a bike goes through from order to delivery and were very impressed. This was followed by the handout of further sponsoring materials and a photoshooting. Both took place in the new showroom.

Later in the afternoon, they continued to travel to Todtnau, where the team pitched their tents for a training camp for the weekend.

After having bad luck with the weather conditions in Todtnau in the past years, this time the forecast showed only sunshine. Motivated, Marcus and the boys started the first day of the training camp with a fitness and coordination unit. Well warmed up, they then went onto the downhill track for some first chilled descents to get a feel for the course.

Again this year, there were some newly created sections with great options for the kids to send it. Well warmed up and familiarized with the track, the boys had several hours of section training in various challenging key sections on the first half of the downhill track. Marcus showed the kids different line options and worked with them on their line choices using video analysis.

At the end of the first training day, an obligatory video session on the big jumpline was on the agenda. This was of course a highlight and the boys really send it! Tired but very satisfied, the day ended with a dinner together in Todtnau after a cool down in the creek.

For the next day, training of the key sections in the second part of the downhill line was scheduled. Again, the focus was on intelligent line choice based on video analysis. The visual analysis helps the kids a lot to understand the advantages and disadvantages of individual lines and to put what they have learned into practice. At the end of the training, the boys showed significant progress, which was combined into clean and much faster runs from section to section.

We are already looking forward to the next training camp at the end of July and the upcoming races. This season, the team will focus on the races of the Swiss and Czech downhill racing series as well as the Rookies Cup, as the U15 class in the French downhill cup has unfortunately been closed to foreign riders.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, who have supported our development programme and thus the future of downhill racing, even in these turbulent times! We are also happy to have three new sponsors on board for 2021: Schwalbe, Newmen and Deuter!
