Tour, trail, all-mountain? Take your pick, the new Hugene does it all. With 140 mm of rear travel and a choice of 140 or 150 mm in the front, this is a bike that always delivers. Whether it’s a brisk trail ride, an all-day tour, or traversing the alps, the Hugene makes you a summiteer on every climb and a rocket on the descents.
The lightweight Blend Carbon frame paired with 29″ wheels will efficiently get you up even the steepest climbs. On descents, perfectly tuned 140 mm travel in our “Trail-Tuned” PRO10 frame and a choice of 140 or 150 mm travel at the front give you total control and playful handling. With the combination of confident stability, an effective suspension system that generates an extremely high level of grip for its class and agile handling, you can pop off every root and get maximum fun out of every trail on any terrain.
Do you like steep climbs and long uphill sections? Thanks to the steep seat angle, spacious reach and high anti-squat of the PRO10 frame, our Hugene climbs smoothly and effectively. Your power is transferred directly to the ground without bobbing, even with the shock open, and the riding position is optimized so that a raising front wheel is a thing of the past. The 29″ wheels provide plenty of drive and traction to get you to your destination.
Do you crave flow wherever you ride, even on technical terrain? No problem with our Hugene. The large wheels guarantee stability and excellent roll-over behavior. Thanks to the modern but moderate geometry with a head angle of 65.5°, the Hugene is also very agile, and the poppy ride feel lets you fly playfully from turn to turn.
Comfort! Grip! Stability! We rely on 29″ for our trail bike. The advantages are obvious. The larger wheels ensure a better attack angle and roll–over behavior, so bumps can be smoothed out better than smaller wheel sizes. The larger surface area of the 29″ tires also improve traction, which means more grip when you need it most. The longer wheelbase gives the bike more stability and the larger wheels store more energy in the wheels while riding, which keeps you going faster for longer. This helps us achieve exactly what we want with our trail bike: speed, stability and comfort both uphill and downhill. Hugene 2 CF 29″
Are you looking for a trail bike that allows you to efficiently tackle even the longest tours, doesn’t shy away from rough sections, and playfully gets the most fun out of every trail? Then the Hugene is exactly the right choice for you!
We at PROPAIN always remain committed to custom, so you can still fulfill your every individual wish in our configurator. Still, we want to help guide you on the way to your personal dream bike. Our three build kits are confidently recommended, because we would build our own bikes exactly the same way. For every use case and every budget, we provide you with a well-thought-out spec concept, each of which is fully “ready to shred”.
Good looks aren’t everything. Our Hugene also impresses with its core values and smart detail solutions. With a sophisticated frame concept, our award-winning PRO10 system, durable bearings, internal cable routing and an efficient chainstay protector, you can enjoy your ride with complete peace of mind.
On our Hugene, we manufacture the upper link of the PRO10 system from carbon to optimize the weight of the frame. This also allows for the link to be painted in the frame color and rounds off the design.
Cable ducts run through the frame of our Hugene 2, which not only protect the cables from dirt and eliminate annoying rattling, but also make cable routing very easy.
The robust Acros frame bearings are additionally protected by our PROPAIN dirt shields. An extra seal protects the underlying bearings from dust, water, and dirt.
To keep your frame protected at all times, our Hugene 2 comes with a custom chainstay and downtube protectors. The chainstay protector absorbs chain vibrations and minimizes noise.
A good trail bike of course needs the ability to carry enough hydration and the most necessary equipment for a long day on the bike. The less weight in the backpack or hip bag the better. The bottle mount on the down tube and the tool mount on the bottom of the top tube provide the perfect platform for this.
Whether pedaling uphill or going down fast, our Hugene 2 always keeps a cool head. And off the trail it’s just a natural beauty.
We are convinced that it is not enough to just use one good carbon material for a frame. Instead, it needs different carbon materials and their diverse properties to meet the requirements. PROPAIN carbon frames are made from pre-impregnated (prepreg) carbon layers. These guarantee an optimum resin content and thus ensure significantly higher strength values. Each of the layers has special properties and corresponding tasks at specific points of the frame. Based on the requirements for stiffness, flexibility, impact resistance, weight, strength and the direction of stress, different fibers and fabrics are used. PROPAIN uses only the highest quality materials. For example, the carbon fibers used in our frames are the same as those used in the latest generation of aviation components.

The adjustable seatpost is probably one of the most ingenious inventions of recent years. In order to function optimally on the trail, the proper seatpost travel is very important. The following chart shows the recommended minimum inseam for the corresponding frame size. Please keep in mind that this is only a recommendation, as the respective sitting position depends very much on personal habits and preferences.

Can I use the Hugene in bike parks?
Our Hugene is assigned to bike category 4. Regular and permanent use on North Shore trails and in bike parks should therefore be avoided. Use in rough terrain and moderate jumps are no problem. After intense use, you should check your bike for damage before and after each ride.
Can I ride a 27.5″ wheel on the rear of the Hugene?
Due to its geometry and frame characteristics, the Hugene is only designed for the use of 29″ wheels. Therefore it is not possible to mount wheels in 27.5″.
Why is the Hugene not available in 27.5″?
With its 29″ wheels, our trail bike is your ideal companion for longer tours or for your local home trails. The large wheels ensure optimal climbing characteristics in the uphill as well as solid performance over sticks and stones in the downhill. We are therefore convinced that 29″ wheels are the better choice for this field of use.
What is the frame mount below the top tube for?
The mount is used to fix straps, tools, tubes or other spare parts that could be helpful on your tour.
Which bottle size fits in the frame?
Attaching drinking bottles up to 0.5 l is no problem. With larger frame sizes, 0.7 l bottles can also be stowed.
What does the delivery include?
The bike comes with three stem spacers, uncut handlebars and all the instructions you need.
What is the maximum tire width that fits the frame?
A general statement is not possible here due to the tolerances of the tire manufacturers’ width specifications. E.g. fit Schwalbe tires up to 2.4, VEE up to 2.35 and Maxxis up to 2.5WT.
How much does the Hugene weigh in my build?
Due to the large selection of components and frame sizes, we cannot make a statement for all combinations. However, we have given weights for our build kits, which you can see in the table above. In the configurator you will also find weight information for each component.
Do you also offer other components that are not listed in the configurator?
No, we only offer the components and color variants that we show in the configurator.
What does my frame look like in the colour Raw?
Carbon raw is a real beauty! The frames are getting a special treatment before we paint them so the carbon surface, which is shining through the paint, is showing its best side. Besides the clear paint there is also a light dark coating applied. This results in a light dark shine of carbon material, especially in sunlight. Each model is different so every method and also materials will differ. That also means every single frame is a unique.
