Pushing Boundaries
Ekano is derived from the Japanese name “Kano” and describes a visionary, versatile and adventurous character. Our Ekano unites all these traits in an impressive E-Mountain Bike. The powerful Shimano EP8 motor gives you the power to coper with every climb whilst being low-maintenance and very service orientated due to the large network of STEPS-dealers.
Thanks to the many customization options – like choice of wheel sizes and completely customizable specification, the Ekano’s range of use extends from All-Mountain Touring to E-nduro racing. No matter which adventure you choose, the Ekano is your ideal companion. Once the power button is pressed, nothing stops you from having fun and enjoying adventure. Due to the wide range of design options, the Ekano will always remain your individual dream E-nduro!

Wheel Size
29″ / Mix / 27.5″
The larger wheels ensure smooth running – roots, stones or other obstacles can be rolled over with ease. Furthermore, 29″ wheels are ideal for longer tours.
With a 29″ wheel at the front and 27.5″ at the rear, the advantages of both worlds are combined and offer the best all-round package for you. The large front wheel makes obstacles easy to overcome, the smaller rear wheel offers enough agility to get through all corners.
The agile version comes on 27.5″ wheels. The smaller wheel circumference makes them easier to handle and therefore perfect for technical terrain or playful riding.
We will help you on your way to your personal dream bike. Our options are only a roughrecommendation because your needs are as individual as you are. We have put together three pre-configured models for you. In our configuration tool, however, you can still adapt every single part of all models to your wishes. Have fun building your dream bike!
To protect the motor and down tube against stone hits, and to protect your frame against damage to the paintwork caused by the chain jumping, your Ekano comes with our motor and chain stay protection as standard. The optimised chain stay protection absorbs vibrations of the chain and protects the stay from damage. The down tube and motor are optimally protected by a cover against damage and dirt.
Powerful & enduring!
No trail is like the other. Everyone has his own preferences when it comes to riding. With the new Shimano EP8, you get the power when you need it! No matter if it’s steep & challenging terrain or a flowing single trail, you decide how the engine supports you. Thanks to the many setting options you can adjust the engine to your needs.
E-Tube Project App
Eco, Trail or Boost modes are well known by now. With the Shimano E-Tube Project App you can now adjust the support of your engine to suit your riding style. Whether you’re on single trail or on the way to work, the quickly changed profiles ensure that your bike is always optimally adjusted.

A geometry that works well on downhill as well as on demanding and long uphill sections is key for an E-Mountain Bike. The Ekano manages this balancing act with ease by the combination of a steep seat angle, moderately long reach and chain stays and a flat head angle. These characteristics paired with the powerful support of the Shimano EP8 drive unit ensure an agile handling on the trails and an overall new riding experience.
