Over many years, we have continuously developed our downhill bike with our World Cup team and roster of top athletes. The Rage has been rigorously tested on the toughest tracks and under the most extreme conditions. Thanks to continuous feedback and close collaboration with our riders, the performance has been consistently improved—with the clear goal of creating an uncompromising race bike.
Being the first bike in our portfolio, our RAGE embodies over 18 years of development. Starting with the launch of the first generation in 2010, we are now sending the fifth model off to the racetrack. From 3D-printed prototypes to production readiness, our bikes undergo an extensive development journey. Each component is tested for functionality and efficiency and continuously improved.
The large downtube protector optimally shields the frame from rock impacts and other external forces. The newly developed chainstay and seatstay protectors, made from high-quality TPR plastic with air-filled nubs, have excellent damping properties and efficiently stop chain vibrations.
For a modern carbon frame that withstands ambitious riding over time, it’s not enough to simply use one good carbon material. Instead, a combination of different carbon fibers and fabrics with their diverse properties is needed to meet the demands. PROPAIN carbon frames are made from pre-impregnated (Prepreg) carbon layers. These ensure an optimal resin content and result in significantly higher strength values. Each layer has specific properties and tasks in designated areas of the frame. Depending on the requirements for stiffness, flexibility, impact resistance, weight, strength, and the direction of stress, different fibers and fabrics are used.
We are 100% convinced that our PRO10 system remains the most powerful frame concept on the market. It is based on four pivot points and a floating shock that is activated by two counter-rotating links. The 215mm PRO10 rear end of the Rage 3 R CF, combined with the shock tuned to it, delivers a sensitive response and high progression. On the track, this translates to massive grip, plenty of support, and a feeling of never-ending suspension travel
Our progressive design of the rear suspension allows for maximum sensitivity at the beginning of the travel, enabling the suspension to absorb small bumps and trail chatter seamlessly.
The responsiveness of the rear end, combined with the defined lateral stiffness (compliance) of all PRO10 rear ends, enables precise line-holding even through rough terrain.
With an anti-squat calibrated to each model at just over 100%, we achieve an extremely stable pedaling platform across all bikes, effectively preventing bobbing during strong acceleration.
The wheel rise curve begins directed backward to minimize resistance when avoiding obstacles. At the same time, the wheel rise curve is optimized to ensure no noticeable pedal kickback.
The forces acting during braking can compress the rear suspension and counteract the weight shift caused by braking. The PRO10ROsuspension system effectively utilizes this effect to ensure controlled braking while maintaining optimal suspension performance.
The shock is connected via two links, resulting in virtually no lateral forces acting on the shock. This maximizes the effectiveness and longevity of the shock.
The force transfer from the rear end to the main frame is very uniform due to the floating system, allowing for an overall lightweight frame construction.
The large stainless steel bearings are protected by an additional seal (Propain Dirt-Shields) and guarantee an extremely long lifespan. The positioning of the bearings ensures very low forces acting on them, further reducing maintenance intervals.
The positioning of the shock contributes to a very low and central center of gravity, significantly enhancing the bikes' handling.
18 years ago, the Rage, along with the PRO10 suspension system, laid the foundation for PROPAIN. Initially, when company founder Robert Krauss wanted to develop the perfect downhill bike for himself, it was meant to be a bike for him and his friends. He created a list of 10 requirements that the suspension system needed to meet. The result remains the heart and success formula of PROPAIN bikes to this day.
The size of the frame plays an important role in the bike’s performance and, above all, in its enjoyment. Select the frame size you need from the table. If you are between two sizes, then you only have to decide whether you like it playful or smooth. For smooth riding, choose the larger frame size, for playful riding, choose the smaller frame size.
