After the Tyee Carbon, it is now the turn of the aluminum version and it is getting a major update. As with the carbon version, we attach great importance to improving and modernizing the bestseller.
Aluminum bikes are currently on the rise again and are enjoying great popularity. So it's no wonder that we've also given the aluminum version of the Tyee a proper update. At first glance, the Tyee and the Tyee AM differ little from their predecessors, but a closer look at the inner values and details reveals the many innovations.
• Geometry update with longer reach, steeper seat angle and flatter steering angle
• Propain Dirt Shield – double sealed bearing covers
• Enlargement of the frame bearings to improve durability
• Elimination of front derailleur assembly
• Newly designed main frame and rear triangle with increased strength and rigidity
• New suspension layout with higher progression for improved performance and compatibility with steel shock absorbers
• New down tube protection
• Larger mudguard keeps the shock nice and clean
• New vinyl decals in various new colors offer more options than ever before
• Classification in category 5 with full bike park approval
Seat angle
The seat angle has been increased to 76°, giving the rider a more ergonomic position on climbs. Thanks to the more central weight distribution, the rider is always ready for the next attack.
Reach and steering angle
The Tyee 2019 features a new main frame with improved, more modern geometry. More reach and a flatter steering angle improve both uphill and downhill performance.
Lower bottom bracket
The bottom bracket has been lowered slightly to improve handling and the feeling of sitting in the bike.
Damper compatibility
One point of criticism of the previous Tyee was the limited compatibility with different dampers. The original design was intended exclusively for air dampers and limited the riders in their choice of damper. The 2019 model has a more progressive chassis layout and enough space to install steel dampers. This innovation makes it possible to get even more downhill performance out of the Tyee.
These dampers fit, among others, the Tyee 2019:
• Rock Shox – Deluxe / Super Deluxe
• FOX – Float / Float DPX2
• Cane Creek – Double Barrel / Inline
Gear ratio
To ensure that the kinematics are suitable for the more linear behavior of steel dampers, the overall progression of the gear ratio was increased from 15 % to 30 %. The change in kinematics also resulted in a more sensitive response at the beginning of the travel, improved support in the mid-travel range and increased bottom-out protection.
Tyee
As with all current models, we no longer offer you fixed features. We only give recommendations from start to performance to high-end, where you can adjust all parts to your liking. The price of the Tyee is between €2,265.00 and €5,685.00.
Tyee AM
The "little brother" of the Chieftain makes no secret of its enduro genes. Some testers in the past have rightly called it a trail duro. But it is not intended to define a new category. Rather, it is an extremely lively all-mountain bike with 145 mm of suspension travel at the rear and extra safety when going downhill. The Tyee AM also has three recommended equipment options, from €2,265.00 for the entry-level version to €5,135.00 for the high-end model.
